Luke's Six!!!

I can't believe my little guy is six!!! Wow, I feel either really old or just really young to be having a six year old. Anyhow, this year we decided to do a family party instead of a friend party. I have to admit, I felt a little guilty like I wasn't being a good mom to not throw a huge party like I usuallly do. But guess what? Luke had a great time and he said "I want to have a family party every year!". I did like that there was no stress, no planning, no fighting with my husband about how much money I'd spent at the dollor store to fill up the "must have" goody bags. It was actually really nice and Luke had a blast playing at Chucky Cheese with his dad, mom and 2 little sisters. He got a small gift from each of us. I got him the "Diary of a Whimpy Kid" books, Brooke got him some "Bendaroos", JR got him a big bag of Jerky and Caitlynn just smiled for him. I thought he would miss opening presents and having all his friends there but he didn't at all. So, we are now going to do a friend party every other year starting at age six in our family.

Happy Birthday Luke. I hope you had a great birthday and I really liked hanging out with you to celebrate your big day at Chucky Cheese. It was so fun to win the jackpot and get all those tickets!!!I bet that was your gift from Chelsea. Dad is having a great time reading those books to you. Pretty soon you won't need his help at all to read them, but secretly I think he really likes it.

WE LOVE YOU LUKEY!!!!!!!!

Here are some pics or our little man, and of course they are in reverse order. Oh well, Luke doesn't care!

Spring Break 2009

It was Luke's spring break two weeks ago and so we decided to do a "staycation" instead of going away. Living in the bay area provides us with plenty of things to do and everything is less than an hour away. It was fun to decide the morning of what we wanted to do that day. Uncle Ryan was here for Easter break so it was nice to have him around since JR couldn't take off the whole week. Here is a recap of what we did all week and of course I down-loaded all of my pictures backwards so just pretend they go together.
Monday we just hung out in the morning and then went to the 3D movie Monsters vs. Aliens. Tuesday we did the Exploratorium. Then on Wednesday we went to the Oakland A's vs. the Boston Red Socks game. That was really fun and we lucked out on great seats! Oh, and it was dollar day so the hot dogs were only a buck and we got a ton! On Thursday we went to the Oakland temple and enjoyed the beautiful gardens and other happenings there. Then we dropped off Uncle Ryan at the airport and went and visited some of our friends for dinner. On Friday we decided to go down to Santa Cruz and enjoy the beach. Even though it is only an hour away, we still got a hotel and had a great time at the indoor pool/hot tub. The next day we spent at the beach collecting sea shells and getting some much needed "Daddy Time". One highlight was seeing a baby seal that had washed to shore right where we were. The kids thought it was the greatest thing ever until they realized it was sick and the vet came and took it away. But it was neat to see one up close. All in all, it was a great trip and the drive home was only an hour so it was just perfect for mommy.
It was really fun spending time with the kids and being lazy for awhile. I am getting excited for summer to come-only six more weeks for us. But until then, back to school and routines for now.

Coloring Easter Eggs

We had fun coloring Easter Eggs tonight. I can't believe that Easter is almost here!

Caitlynn and I getting ready to make a mess coloring Easter Eggs.

Brooke is looking so "Egg-eyed". It happened totally randomly and when I was looking through the pictures I had to laugh because it looks like it was on purpose.

Here is the fun part. The kids loved mixing the colors and finding their names on the "magic eggs".

Didn't they turn out great!!! I love how excited my kids got while we were making them. Isn't Easter fun?

Weekend in Pismo Beach

This past weekend we went to Pismo Beach for a friend's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and it was fun to see JR and I's long lost friend after 7 years. Congrats Tori and Trevor!!! They had the ceremony in her parent's backyard and let me just tell you that no details were spared. Everything was just perfect. We of course got to play at the beach and we decided that it is our new vacation spot. The four hour drive was just enough to feel like a vacation and the kids did great in the car both ways. You can't beat those white sandy beaches, plus it is the half-way point to Disneyland. We had alot of fun and can't wait to do it next year. Anyone care to join us???
